7 Biggest Snakes In The World

Snakes are not to the liking of many people. Still, we all recognize that they are incredibly beautiful animals and have skills that many of us would want. Today, we are going to talk about the biggest snakes in the world, some curiosities that everyone will love to know.

Before we start our list of the biggest snakes in the world, we’ll say something to you: if you come across any of these here, run!

green anaconda

This  snake  lives in South America and can measure between 4 and 5 and a half meters.  While it’s true that there are other species that can measure more, the anaconda is on this list for its thickness, and it can weigh up to 220 kilos. In fact, to support its own weight, most of its life it spends in water.

reticulated python

This  may be the longest snake in the world, with its minimum measurements being 5.5 meters. Specimens that reached 9.5 meters have already been identified. Can you imagine finding one like this in your bathroom?

They live in Southeast Asia, in the jungles. And despite its  size, its weight is less than that of the green anaconda. However, it could not be missing from the list of the biggest snakes in the world.

Burmese python

It lives in the same jungles as the reticulated python. It is somewhat smaller, as it reaches 6 meters in length, at most. It looks little compared to the reticulated python, but have you ever thought about how much six meters is?  It’s longer than a big car! As we told you at the beginning, if you see one of these, run!

African rock python

It seems that the pythons are very present in this list. Therefore, the African roca python could not be missing among them. This snake lives in Africa, as its name indicates, and feeds on goats, gazelles and clay pots, so you can all imagine its size. It reaches almost 8 meters.

Titanoboa

It is said that the anaconda come from this species that lived over 60 million years ago. There is evidence to show that this snake reached more than 12 meters in length, and that it may still exist. If this is true, it will undoubtedly rank at the top of this list.

Gigantophis garstini snake

This would be second on our list after Titanoboa. But yes, there is evidence that this species went extinct 40 million years ago. They lived in Egypt and Libya, and their measurements comprised between 11 and 16 meters in length. Its weight, something very remarkable for us to take into account, was up to 700 kilos!  This is why it is firmly believed that he lived much of his time in the water, because it would be impossible to crawl with so much weight.

Australian amethyst python

This snake comes from Australia, as its name says. It would be behind the Garstini, for its 7 meters long and its almost 100 kilos in weight. Despite not being the first on the list, it  is capable of swallowing beings bigger than itself.

Its fur is one of the most sought after by poachers, which prompted the Australian government to draw up a plan to conserve the species. For this purpose, protective parks were created to shelter them and where, from children to the elderly, they can see them and learn about the way of life of these reptiles.
