London Underground Takes Out Advertisements And Puts Up Pictures Of Cats

London Underground takes out advertisements and puts pictures of cats

The London Underground is one of the most famous in the world. And, in this cosmopolitan city, you can take the tube anywhere, from the central area or to the outskirts of England’s capital. Its stations are full of advertisements for different products, which sometimes leave passengers impressed.

Two animal protection societies decided to innovate, replacing ads with pictures of cats. In order to achieve this, they had to raise money to pay advertisers. Next, we’ll tell you how they did it!

A very special campaign on the London Underground

Advertising a business or a product in popular places like the London Underground costs a lot of money. Therefore, to carry out this initiative conceived by Glimpse, they understood that they had to raise the necessary resources. Only then could they pay the advertisers who had run their ads on Clapham’s station.

They ran a campaign to raise money on the internet and soon managed to raise £28,000. That was the amount needed to fill the cat photo station for two weeks.

The initiative is somewhat curious. That’s just it, pictures of cats. They didn’t advertise animal protection societies or animal food societies, or Pet Shops or veterinary clinics, just cats. But for what purpose?

As Glimpse tells us, the daily stress of having to rush to work and running around, spending so many hours in the office, balancing family and home, is enough emotional pressure for people. If you add to that having to walk through streets full of advertisements that encourage you to buy and put more pressure on your life, things get worse.

So it was necessary to do something relaxing, even for a short time. They wanted something that would remind everyone who passed through the station how beautiful it is to live life in peace.

Seeking happiness through cats

The founder of Glimpse guarantees that his goal is to fill advertising spaces with things that make people happy. It feels better to do it that way than with things that increase the pressure on them. He thinks that this initiative makes people, instead of thinking about wanting to buy something they are seeing, to meditate on the beauty of life and nature.

It sounds simple, but if he could make it go further, it is argued that the number of cases of depression and suicides that stress causes  every year could be reduced.

Meanwhile, people embraced this idea very openly. They are hanging hundreds of pictures of kittens every day, dreaming of seeing them someday this season or another.

Who knows? Maybe they’ll team up to bring together companies and more money to allow the kitten photos to stay there forever…

Even though it may seem crazy to many people, this idea of improving mood through animals is scientifically proven. Not only do they have the power to make us meditate on the beauty of life, they also influence us directly.

It doesn’t matter if it’s children, adults or the elderly, animals can help people in these ways:

  • Make you feel useful. An animal is totally dependent on us and this makes us feel important, reinforcing our self-esteem.
  • Make you feel loved. It doesn’t matter if it was a few minutes ago that you reprimanded him, he will always seek your love and attention and make you feel loved at all times.
  • Reduce stress. It is scientifically proven that animals are good at reducing stress. They bring calm and tranquility to the person or people who are around.
  • Help babies build immunity. Yes, a pet, when well bred, instead of transmitting diseases, it does the opposite. Due to what it brings from the street, it makes the immune system of babies and adults to strengthen, with a lower risk of disease.

We hope this London Underground initiative will set a precedent for influencing many other places around the world to do the same.
